Stranraer’s Apex U Turn group of volunteers have completed another community project. The volunteers have been at Rephad primary in Stranraer building a hen enclosure.

Apex Stranraer U Turn Collect Cheque From YMCA
Apex Stranraer’s U Turn service was presented with a cheque for £500 from Stranraer YMCA this week. This was from the Santa float fundraising event which takes place every year in Stranraer.
Stranraer U Turn Volunteers help save Christmas!
Apex U Turn were approached by Stranraer YMCA to help build a new Santa float. The Santa float is a local tradition that was saved two years ago by Stranraer YMCA after the local Round Table group folded due to lack of numbers. The float goes round all of the town and every village in the surrounding area and collects money for local charities.
Apex Stranraer Engage Young People In The Referendum Process
During the run up to the Referendum we provided an opportunity for hard to reach young people aged 16-18 to get involved in the democratic process and to empower them to make an informed decision.
U Turn Help Transform Local Nursery Playground
U Turn clients undertook a project recently to help restore Sheuchan nursery schools playground equipment.
From Stranraer to the Commonwealth Games
Apex staff and clients were delighted to receive a donation from Cash For Kids last month which enabled service users to take their children and younger siblings to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Congratulations to the U-Turn team in Dumfries and Galloway who are the recipients of this year’s Apex Sam Dow Memorial Award. The service engages clients in volunteering projects that benefit the local communities in Dumfries and Stranraer as well as providing the clients with practical work experience.
Sainsbury’s Supports Moving In
This year Apex Stranraer was thrilled to be chosen as the local Sainsbury’s charity of the year in support of the team’s Moving In project.
Apex Foodbank Welcomed
In 2013 Apex Stranraer secured a Big Lottery Support and Connect Fund grant to set up a foodbank and to enhance our existing ‘Moving In’ service which provides housing starter packs for those in need in Wigtownshire.
