As a conclusion to group sessions looking at crime and its consequences, Kirkland High School Inclusion Unit organised a visit to Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court. The young people wanted to visit the court to experience being a member of the jury and listened to a variety of cases.

Apex Scotland were invited to sit on the panel at one of the larger workshops led by Angela Constance MSP, Minister for Youth Employment, who spoke about the continuing work to reduce youth unemployment and confirmed the Scottish Government’s support for Community Jobs Scotland (CJS) for another year.
Vexed Questions Over School Exclusions
Following the success of Apex Scotland’s Inclusion Units, Apex’s Chief Executive, Alan Staff, participated in a roundtable discussion with the Scottish Government’s Justice Committee on the connections between school exclusions and offending.
Prisoners’ success with Apex at HMP Inverness
Apex Scotland’s ASCEND project, based in Inverness, is a 3 year pilot funded by ESF. This project enables Apex staff to work with prisoners prior to their liberation and thereafter into the community to improve their employment prospects.
Lochgelly pupils take to the hills
A group of third years from Lochgelly High School who follow the Flexible Curriculum group took part in a three day team building course.
Tegan and Kyle become peer mentors
Lochgelly High School and local drug and alcohol service The Zone came together last Wednesday and delivered a training day to pupils around the impact/consequences and effects that drugs and alcohol can have.
