Lived experience support for those transitioning from custody to the community.
The service focuses on four main areas; diversion from prosecution; structured deferred sentences; community payback orders as well as custodial releases. The Peer Navigator has knowledge, and expertise by experience, of providing a recovery-based approach to support, that is person centred, strengths based and trauma informed, using relationship-based practice to develop supportive and meaningful relationships with service users, many of whom can be difficult to engage.
The service is designed to support people over 18 years of age working with justice social work services and alcohol and drug recovery services as well as other relevant support services during the difficult transition period from custody to the community.
Referral through East Dunbartonshire Justice Social Work.
