This proactive measure works with individuals who have been excluded from school for a determined period of time and are returning to mainstream classes via Apex Inclusion. This is to carry out restorative work with the individual and others involved, if necessary, to reduce the prospect of a similar incident re-occurring in future.
We work with individuals in school, dealing with distress, often displayed through hostility and aggression. We adopt a mixture of practices including restorative and cognitive learning styles such as choice theory and emotional literacy helping individuals understand why their behaviour is unacceptable and the consequences of it on their futures.
Pupils aged 11-15 years, between S1-S4
The individual’s Head of House in consultation with the assigned Gatekeeper completes a referral form and submits to the Apex Worker. Periods of Inclusion will depend on the needs of the individual and work required to be undertaken.
