Established in 1987, Apex Scotland provides a range of services to adults and young people throughout Scotland with the aim of reducing re-offending, or diversion from offending through early intervention. Apex Scotland is a national Scottish charity with around 100 staff and also owns a trading subsidiary social enterprise, All Cleaned Up, which aims to provide real employment opportunities to our client group.
Due to a period of change within the finance team, we have two vacancies within the team based in our Edinburgh Head Office: Accounting Officer and Accounting Technician. Please see our other advert for details of the Accounting Technician.
As the Accounting Officer you will work as part of a small and busy team which has responsibility for general accounting functions of Apex Scotland. Your remit will include assisting with the payroll function, the maintenance and provision of accurate and timeous monthly management accounts for Apex Scotland and each budget centre. You will have a role in the production of end of year financial statements and annual revenue budget as well as some day to day functions including processing of invoices or staff expenses. Knowledge of computerised accounting packages and Excel are essential. Knowledge of Sage Accounts (Sage 200) and Sage Payroll is desirable. This role will be varied and will require experience of, and a sound understanding of, finance procedures, a keen eye for detail, the ability to communicate effectively and excellent organisational skills.
