Established in 1987, Apex Scotland provides a range of services to adults and young people throughout Scotland with the aim of reducing re-offending, or diversion from offending through early intervention. Apex Scotland is a national Scottish charity with around 100 staff and also owns a trading subsidiary social enterprise, All Cleaned Up, which aims to provide real employment opportunities to our client group.
Due to a period of change within the finance team, we have two vacancies within the team based in our Edinburgh Head Office: Accounting Technician and Accounting Officer. Please see our other advert for details of the Accounting Officer.
Working as part of a small team, as Accounting Technician you will have excellent accounting knowledge and experience to participate in the production of accounts and management information. A high degree of IT literacy will be necessary to participate fully in the supervision of project cost centres, analysis and reporting. Particular knowledge of Sage Line 200, Sage Payroll and Microsoft Excel is essential.
The post holder will support the Apex Accountant in all aspects of the finance department in the production of accounts for Apex Scotland and potentially our trading subsidiary company All Cleaned Up. They will require excellent organisational, communication and record keeping skills to undertake the variety of tasks involved. This will include monthly payroll and related tasks including auto-enrolment pensions processing and HMRC updates as well as monthly accounts, annual accounts, budgeting, project monitoring and general financial control and administration. There may also be the need to assist with the processing of invoices and staff expense claims where required.
