Apex Inclusion is a key component in our delivery of effective and time appropriate services to disadvantaged individuals who may be at risk of offending. In Fife we do this in partnership with three High Schools and Fife Council, and in Dundee we are part of Inclusion Plus. This is a schools focused delivery consortium made up of Apex Scotland, Skillforce and Includem and is supported by The Robertson Trust, The Big Lottery and Dundee City Council. Inclusion Plus – Dundee and Apex Inclusion in Fife aim to improve the life chances of disadvantaged and disaffected young people in schools as well as reducing the number of exclusions and progressions to off campus provision.
This initiative is funded to work alongside the school to equip pupils with the motivation and skills required to engage in a formal learning environment; reduce exclusion; raise aspiration; tackle ingrained behaviour; attitudes; improve family relationships and increase attainment and attendance, contributing to more young people entering positive destinations when they leave school.
We now require two new staff members to join our team:
- 1 x Inclusion Worker – Peripatetic cover, based between Dunfermline, Lochgelly and Kirkland Schools
- 1 x Inclusion Worker – Based in Dundee (see separate posting)
Job share applications will be considered
For either post you will have experience of working with socially excluded young people and be able to develop and deliver a training programme that identifies and meets the needs of individuals. Experience of delivering group work and one to ones to young people overcoming multiple barriers are essential for supporting participants to achieve their potential. The ability to work with a range of other disciplines is also essential. As these posts are school based, staff will be required to take annual leave during school holiday periods and not during school term time.
In view of the nature of these posts, the successful candidate will be required to join the PVG scheme.
