Apex Scotland is the leading employment and training organisation specialising in work with offenders, ex-offenders and young people at risk.
We are now looking to recruit a part-time, temporary Personal Development Mentor (PDM) to join our team in Dumfries. The team offers a diverse range of services, the most recent addition is the introduction of our foodbank service.
Funding from Holywood Trust has been secured for one year with possible extension, therefore we now require a self-motivated, hard working individual who is able to motivate and inspire change in others. The postholder should be able to advise and support foodbank service users, including signposting to other services in the area. The successful candidate will be required to take the lead in the co-ordination of the foodbank service. This will include stock control, record keeping, as well as representing the Apex foodbank at meetings and networking events, and occasionally collecting supplies or donations. Due to the nature of this post there will be some travel involved, therefore a driving licence would be desirable but not essential.
For this post you will have good communications skills, be approachable and compassionate and have knowledge or experience of mentoring approaches. Experience of working with vulnerable people who may be experiencing difficult times is desirable.
In view of the nature of this post and the requirements to work with vulnerable adults, this postholder will be required to join the relevant PVG scheme.
