Personal Development Mentor – Glasgow

Could you help young people maximise their potential?

We have two part-time temporary vacancies available for our services in Glasgow and Alloa.  We are open to offering both posts to the right candidate who is happy to travel.  Equally, the posts could be covered by two separate individuals, one in each area.  The services we are recruiting for provide a range of support to young people, including services supporting Criminal Justice Social Work, Youth Justice and Mentoring.

The post below is for Glasgow only.  The Alloa vacancy is shown on a separate page.

To be considered for both posts please use one application form and quote reference PDM/G&A, otherwise please use the reference given for each individual part-time post.

For this post you will have knowledge or experience of employability assessment of clients with specific needs, and working with people of differing abilities.  You will be responsible for developing and delivering an exciting and engaging group work programme working on life skills and specific employability skills.  This will include using your initiative to develop sessions and work 1 to 1 with people, with the aim of encouraging personal and social responsibility, along with self respect.

Experience of delivering group work and working with people in a 1 to 1 setting is essential.   Knowledge or experience of basic Microsoft Office packages including databases is essential. Good organisational and administration skills are essential.  We work closely with other organisations to meet the needs of our diverse client group therefore experience of multi-agency working is desirable.  There will be some travel required therefore a current driving license and vehicle or access to a means of transport is essential.

Our service in Glasgow provides mentoring support to young people through our Gateway to Employment Service in partnership with the Celtic Foundation, funded through Cashback for Communities to 31 March 2017.

In view of the nature of this post, the successful candidate will be required to become a member of the PVG scheme.

I have enjoyed each session. Some days I didn’t want to leave the house but the thought of going to the Apex group made me get up and go out.
