Apex Scotland is the leading employment and training organisation specialising in work with offenders, ex-offenders and young people at risk. We now have a vacancy based in our Aberdeen city centre project working on our provision supporting Youth Justice Services.
If you would like to play a part in this exciting initiative, we now require a Personal Development Mentor to join our team on temporary basis to cover maternity leave. This will be for approximately 6 months – January 2016 to July 2016.
For this post we are looking someone with an interest in working with young people with specific needs and differing abilities. You will be responsible for delivering activity-based interventions, engaging with young people who are having difficulty in maintaining mainstream education. Activities will aim to improve young people’s personal and social responsibility, along with their own sense of self-respect and the creation of more positive peer groups
Knowledge or experience of basic Microsoft Office packages including databases is essential as well as good co-ordination and administration skills as this role will also include representation at review meetings, feedback to relevant bodies and sessional co-ordination. We work closely with other organisations to meet the needs of our diverse client group therefore experience of multi-agency working is desirable. Prospective candidates should note that this post will require participation in outdoor activities, travel and training, therefore a current driving licence and vehicle or access to a means of transport is essential.
In view of the nature of this post, the successful candidates will be required to be a member of the PVG scheme.

Rate of pay: Salary Scale £19,013 - £21,042 p a (pro-rata)
Hours of work: 20 hours per week (hours are flexible to take into account some weekend and evening work where necessary)
