RE:SET is a key component in Apex Scotland’s delivery of effective and time appropriate services with young people experiencing challenges in, and outside of, the school setting.
Our innovative practice supports national policies and local strategy to ensure young people have equal access to opportunities and positive experiences, regardless of their social context or personal needs. We engage with young people, often with complex needs and vulnerabilities, to help all children and young people overcome the barriers they face.
Building on the success of our work, we are looking forward to working in partnership with secondary schools in Edinburgh and Lothians. Through our partnership approach we aim to improve the life chances of disadvantaged young people, improve wellbeing and reduce the number of exclusions and progressions to third tier support.
This initiative is funded to work alongside schools in order to equip pupils with motivation and skills; raise aspiration; improve relationships and increase attainment and attendance.
For this post you will have experience of working with socially excluded young people and be able to develop and deliver a programme that identifies and meets the needs of individuals. Experience of delivering group work and one to ones to young people overcoming barriers are essential for supporting participants to achieve their potential. The ability to work with a range of other disciplines is also essential. A driving licence or access to a means of transport would be an advantage but not essential. Full time or part time hours can be considered, please state your availability on your application. Sessional contracts can also be discussed.
The funding for this service is initially until 31 March 2022 with a view to extend, pending funding.
In view of the nature of this post, the successful candidate will be required to join the PVG scheme.
