Apex Scotland delivers the U Turn service in the Dumfries and Galloway area. The U-Turn service focuses on volunteering and group work, offering people the opportunity to increase their self-confidence and gain work experience and skills. It has been developed to complement the Moving On service to offer training, knowledge and understanding in a relaxed and friendly group environment. The service is funded by the Big Lottery.
We are now looking to recruit a Temporary Personal Development Mentor (PDM) to join our team in Dumfries.
Due to changes in staffing and the services we deliver, we now require a self motivated, hard working individual who is able to motivate and inspire change in others. The successful candidate will be required to work in the community. Due to the nature of this post, there will be significant travel involved therefore a driving licence is essential.
The position offered is initially for a 3 month contract with a possible extension by agreement.
For this post knowledge or experience of mentoring approaches is required. Experience of working in the community would be an advantage.
In view of the nature of this post and the requirement to work with vulnerable adults, the successful candidate will be required to join the PVG scheme.

Rate of pay: £18,825 - £20,834 per annum
Hours of work: 35 hours, however out of office hours, including some evenings or weekends, may also be required
