We are delighted to be partnering the University of Dundee to support a collaborative PhD studentship with the purpose of evaluating the impact of the new Dundee Community Custody Unit for women which is due to open in April 2022.
The CCU is part of a wider strategy adopted by the Scottish Prison Service in transforming the female prison with a focus on rehabilitation and re-integration and has the potential to place Scotland at the forefront of criminal justice reform.
In order for the potential of the CCUs to be realised, independent evaluation and analysis is critical. As well as focusing on analysing the CCU model, Apex Scotland will provide the student with access to a range of roles within our organisation to gain guidance and direct experience.
Supported by the Scottish Graduate School of Social Science, this is an exciting opportunity for a student with a combined experience of community education and/or criminal justice background. Applications from women and/or people with lived experience of prison are particularly encouraged.
The closing date for applications is 31 March 2021. Details on how to apply and more information can be found at the undernoted links.
