Rewriting people’s stories together
Trust is at the heart of everything we do. Whether it’s helping someone with their literacy skills to increase their confidence, signposting people to the best places to get help on their journey or bridging support gaps, we never forget we’re supporting another human being.
Since 1990, we’ve watched as thousands of people with experience of the justice system have penned a new story for themselves and gone on to flourish. That’s what makes us tick, and we’ll never lose that purpose.
What we do
Everything we do helps and supports people with experience of the justice system to build new lives.
By treating everyone as an individual, we create a feeling of dignity, understanding, mutual respect and, most importantly, hope for the future.
Mission
Apex Scotland exists to support people with experience of the justice system to overcome barriers, realise their potential, and positively engage with society. To build a future beyond their past.
We do this through guidance, advocacy, skills development, and person-centred support, we enable individuals to take control of their futures and contribute meaningfully to their families, workplaces, and communities.
Vision
Apex Scotland envisions a Scotland where every individual—regardless of their past—has the opportunity, support, and confidence to build a positive future.
We see a society that values second chances, where barriers to inclusion are dismantled, and where people with justice system experience are empowered to contribute fully, shaping safer, fairer, and more compassionate communities.

Can I just share with you that this young person has been heavily institutionalised and has been in and out of prison since the age of 16. He has been supported by Apex Scotland into a full-time job. He has personally told me that this support has been life changing.
