Apex Scotland is the leading employment and training organisation specialising in work with people with convictions. Apex Scotland offers a diverse range of services for young people and adults to help them break down barriers to employment and engage in education, employment or community activities. We have secured funding through the City of Edinburgh Council’s Shared Prosperity Fund until at least March 2025, to provide the Strides employability service in the Edinburgh City area. We are now looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motived staff member to join our experienced team.
The role of Personal Development Mentor is to work within a busy team delivering employability support to people aged 16+ in Edinburgh. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and an understanding of the nature of issues that unemployed individuals may present with. The right candidate will have an aptitude for developing and delivering innovative group sessions and the ability to engage with service users on a one to one basis to assist them to overcome barriers to progression. An understanding of local employability pipelines would be an advantage, as would knowledge of the network of support agencies in the area. We envisage this post holder being based from the offices of Apex Scotland or our partner agencies. Some travel may be required therefore a driving licence or access to a means of transport would be an advantage but is not essential.
Apex Scotland offers an excellent training and support package as well as generous annual leave and flexible working where possible.
This service is currently funded until March 2025 with possible extension.
In view of the nature of this post and the requirement to work with vulnerable adults, this post holder will be required to join the relevant PVG scheme.
