We now have a part time temporary opportunity in the Tayside area, working as part of a team who provide the New Routes service. Apex Scotland delivers the New Routes mentoring service in the Tayside area working as part of a Scotland-wide public social partnership offering a mentoring service to young male prolific offenders. This is an exciting initiative, aiming to reduce re-offending amongst males and contributing to the Scottish Government’s reducing re-offending strategy.
We are now looking to recruit a part time Personal Development Mentor (PDM) to join our team. It is anticipated that there will be extensive travel throughout the area with the capacity for some home working. This service is funded annually, currently to March 2024. This is a maternity cover post which we expect to end in March 2024.
The successful candidate will be required to work in a prison environment and in the community. Due to the nature of this post, there will be significant travel involved therefore a driving licence and access to own vehicle or access to a mode of transport is essential. For this post you will have knowledge or experience of mentoring approaches. Experience of working in a prison environment would be an advantage.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who has effective communication skills and an understanding of the nature of issues that unemployed individuals may present with. The right candidate will be able to motivate and inspire change in others, have an understanding of barriers to progression or employment and be able to work with a wide range of people to help them progress. Rate of pay: Salary Scale £22,597 - £24,883 pro rata per annum
Hours of work: 21 hours per week. Working out of office hours may be required including some evening or weekends.
