On June 30th, July 1st and 2nd seen the third National Neighbourhood Collection for The Dumfriesshire Foodbank. This collection was the biggest collection to date, we are overwhelmed at just how much food and hygiene products were donated. In total the amount raised was 2864.94kg. Tesco also top up customer donations by making a 20% financial contribution which can now be used within the Foodbank to expand and explore more areas to support those in crisis. Firstly we need to thank Store Manager Vince Lydon, Tamara Potts and Anne Croucher, who all went above and beyond to make this such a success. The way they made the volunteers feel was amazing we felt so looked after the whole time. Secondly all those who volunteered throughout the three days they were critical in all of this and done a fantastic job, smiling throughout. Those included in this large group were from the Holywood Trust, The Lighthouse Church, Red Cross, Tesco Extra Staff, Apex Staff, Jacqui Matheson and all of the Dumfriesshire Foodbank volunteers. Thirdly but most importantly we would like to thank the Dumfriesshire public for their kind donations and to assure you that every donation will go to local people in our area who are in crisis.
